Render Networks Brings Fiber and Electric Construction Together with Render Build for Electric

26/ 10/ 2026

Render Networks today announced Render Build for Electric, extending its infrastructure construction capabilities into electric distribution and bringing electric and fiber construction onto the same system of execution. Render will preview the new solution at Esri’s Infrastructure Management & GIS Conference (IMGIS), October 27–29 in Palm Springs, Calif.

Electric and fiber infrastructure are increasingly interdependent. Utilities are deploying fiber to connect substations and support a more intelligent grid, electric cooperatives are building broadband alongside their electric infrastructure, and new data center campuses depend on both power and connectivity. Yet the systems used to build and manage these networks often remain separate, even as crews, poles, rights-of-way and construction programs increasingly overlap.

Render Build for Electric extends Render’s execution model to electric distribution, turning planned work into executable field work and capturing progress, quality and verified asset information as infrastructure is built and upgraded. Esri mapping provides geospatial context for electric construction, helping keep the plan connected to field execution and what was actually built.

“Fiber and electric networks are becoming more interconnected, but the technology used to build them hasn’t necessarily followed,” said John Sullivan, Chief Technology Officer at Render Networks. “Bringing both onto a shared platform reflects the way infrastructure is increasingly being built, with power and connectivity sharing assets, rights-of-way and resources.”

As a Trimble Technology Partner, Render brings high-accuracy positioning directly into the execution workflow, delivering seamless integration with Trimble geospatial technology. Using Trimble Mobile Manager and supported GNSS receivers, including the Trimble DA2 receiver with Trimble Catalyst positioning service, crews can capture precise asset locations and associated accuracy information as work happens. Each build, upgrade or repair becomes an opportunity to reduce uncertainty and improve the digital understanding of the physical network.

“The most valuable time to capture accurate asset information is when crews are already interacting with the infrastructure,” said Dan Colbert, Americas Geospatial Sales Manager, Utilities at Trimble. “Our technology partnership with Render brings high-accuracy positioning into the execution workflow, helping utilities capture change as it happens and carry more trusted information forward into GIS and operations.”

Render is also previewing Field Work Management for planned and unplanned utility operations. Integrating with Outage Management and Meter Data Analytics, Field Work Management connects operational intelligence with mobile field execution and verified field information.

On the fiber side, Render will launch FiberPro Structures at IMGIS, expanding FiberPro beyond the fiber network itself to the physical infrastructure that contains and supports it. Built on Esri technology, FiberPro Structures brings ducts, conduits, cabinets, handholes and other structures into FiberPro, giving fiber operators and utilities deploying fiber alongside their electric networks greater visibility into occupancy and capacity.

Render Build for Electric and Field Work Management will preview at Esri IMGIS, with general availability planned in the coming months. FiberPro Structures will launch at IMGIS.

Render and Trimble will also present “From As-Built to Always Current: Creating a Digital Foundation for the Grid” on October 28th at 12pm PT, exploring how high-accuracy positioning, field verification, digital execution and GIS can work together to continuously improve utilities’ understanding of the physical network.
